The pivot point where the clutch pedal attaches to the clutch master rod was internally broken and loose. I re-adjusted the clutch pedal to make up for the slop. Check that pivot point and or reset the clutch pedal level and play.

I drove a friend's 1st gen Eclipse and the friction point was much closer to the bottom of the pedal travel. It made it much easier to drive, but I didn't feel as connected to the vehicle.
